EXCESS INSURANCE
Please note that due to the impact of Covid and other rising expenses, the Club can no longer cover the Excess Insurance for all Club Members.
What this means is that if you have an accident or damage Club aircraft, whether an Instructor is on board or not, you will have to fork out R20,000 to cover the excess.
If you would rather cover this eventuality with Insurance, then please take out Excess Insurance
We will need proof of this before your next flight, or you must sign a waiver saying you are prepared to cover the Excess Insurance yourself should it become necessary.
For R20,000, it costs R130 per month on debit order, or you can pay it annually. The excess insurance is YOURS, so will cover you no matter where you fly.
It is an industry standard to have your own Excess Insurance. We have just been an exception, but sadly, no longer.

You can get aircraft excess insurance online through DJA, or by contacting ARC. Their prices are very similar. (Click their logo's on the right to open their respective web pages).

RENEW YOUR PPL DOCS
Not testing this year? Renewing your PPL documents annually is now a thing of the past. This moved out shortly after the Pilot Card system moved in. The Annual Renewal form has been removed from the CAA website. (FYI - CAA is still ironing out card bar code issues).

This said, the SA-CATS still state you must send the SACAA the following per Part 61.01.5 SKILLS TESTS, COMPETENCY CHECK AND REVALIDATION CHECK
2. Summary
The summary shall –
(1) reflect: the number of hours flown recorded in each column of the logbook, per aircraft category, class or type in the preceding 12 months, as well as a grand total for the period; and
(2) be submitted together with annual currency fees and attached to the form required for the applicable revalidation or competency check.

BUT
- THERE IS NO LONGER A FORM ON THE CAA WEBSITE, AND THEY USUALLY WANT THE FEE x 2 UPFRONT WHEN YOU DO YOUR COMPETENCY CHECK,
they don't want your annual summary either. Maybe just do one annually in your logbook for good measure.

Submit a copy of your Medical, even if it's the new A4 format that is automatically submitted to the SACAA with the new online medical licensing system, to aircrewapplications@caa.co.za

Please MAKE SURE the Pmb Aero Club has the latest copy of your license before using any Club Aircraft. You can upload this on your profile. Ask us for help if you need it. The bonus is our new SEAMS system will alert us when you are due for paperwork again.
